Each Fortnite match is unique, but once in a while a match becomes something more. A moment. A milestone. And that’s exactly what happened today.
Hi, I’m your (somewhat) friendly neighborhood mom who plays Fortnite. Yes, Fortnite. My gaming tale began back in the early 1990s, but my Fortnite journey only started last year. Prior to Chapter 5: Season 3, aka “Wrecked,” I played the odd Zero Build Battle Royale round on my eldest daughter’s account, but summer 2024 marked my real interest (and mild obsession) with the game. We’ll delve further into my gaming history and Fortnite fondness in later posts.
A Supercharged Season
For now, fast forward a year to summer 2025. We’re well within Chapter 6: Season 3, and it’s “Super” (ba dum tss!)

The “Super” Fortnite update not only transformed three major map locations into themed hotspots but also blessed us with four fresh female skins and gave superhero makeovers to the fandom’s beloved Sprite babies. The colorful early summer season and more avenues to make custom girly pop loadouts made easy work of finding excuses to grind out matches and earn some golden hardware. But only 11 days after Fortnite’s “Super” season dropped, Epic Games unleashed the ultimate hack for stacking crowns and cosplaying as a Sweat. Drumroll, please…
You guessed it: Blitz Royale.
Grinding Smarter, Not Harder

The 32-person player pool, smaller storm circles, higher intensity gameplay, and matches lasting under five minutes mean more engagement and, if played smartly, the increased likelihood of locking down crowns. Like thousands of other Fortnite players, Blitz Royale became my go-to method for achieving crowning glory.
And it paid off.
Before the launch of Blitz on June 18, I had earned several crown wins through Zero Build Battle Royale and Reload matches as a solo, duo, and squad player. But in just two short weeks of playing Blitz, I quickly edged toward—at least for me—an astounding number of victories. I earned triple-digit crowns playing all Blitz styles, including some duo and squad rounds that were “fill” games and others in which I shared the achievements with friends.

On the morning of July 3, I fired up Fortnite and (admittedly) admired my 199 crowns—something I never imaged I would reach—and set my mind to earn crown 200.
I did.
From Joss to Joy
My 200th crown win came during a frenzied Blitz match when I donned one of my current favorite skins: Casual Lightrider. I have an upcoming post planned on some of my favorite loadouts. Stay tuned!
To win, I had to defeat a Joss (another of my preferred skins) terrorizing the map with the Mythic Shockwave Hammer. Leading up to this moment, I heard the clap of her hammer multiple times as she slammed it to the ground, pummeling and shockwaving any and every thing in range.
That sound is terrifying.
However, I knew I would probably have to contend with this player and her hammer if I wanted to win. Frankly, my track record against hammer-wielding opponents was poor. In fact, although I entered the match with 199 crowns, a bit of my confidence crumbled with every thunderous clang of the hammer.

Quick rotations, a clever loadout of Legendary and Mythic weapons, and a final push through Retail Row set the stage for a battle on the knife’s edge of the storm. Through a frenzy of bullets and the encroaching panic that I was missing more shots than I was landing, my mortal enemy Joss dissolved into a pile of loot and the Victory Royale banner suddenly radiated from the top of my Switch Lite screen. My eyes frantically searched for the oh-so-satisfying crown tally update emblazoned on the left: “Total Crowned Victory Royales: 200.”

Two. Hundred.
There it was. I’d done it.
Of course, I had to screen grab the moment, especially with the golden glow of the “Crowning Achievement” emote peeking through the victory overlay screen.

Relieved and exhilarated—riding the wave of glorious victory—I exhaled deeply and immediately readied up for the next match. Heavy was not my head wearing all my crowns. I was invincible.
I was also quickly humbled.
In true Fortnite fashion, crown win 201 neither landed on my head in my follow-up match nor the next one. And so it goes.
Back to the Battle Bus for more matches, milestones, and blog-worthy moments. But for now, I’ll revel in my achievement. Because if you are going to claim to be a caffeinated gamer queen, you should earn a crown or two (hundred).
Claim Your Crown!
Thanks for staying to the end! I hope you’ll return for additional Fortnite content as well as to check out other posts on deck in my highly caffeinated and slightly chaotic life as a girl mom, gamer, and coffee queen.
